Lance E. Landvater, M.D.

 

Dr. LandvaterDr. Lance E. Landvater earned his undergraduate degree at Franklin & Marshall College and his medical degree at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. He completed a general surgery residency and a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at The George Washington University Medical Center & Affiliated Hospitals, where he received the Outstanding Resident Award. He also served as a commissioned officer for three years in the US Public Health Service Corps.

Dr. Landvater is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association and The Royster Medical Society.

Dr. Landvater has been involved with research on a continuing basis since 2005. He has a special interest in minimally invasive valve surgery, mitral valve repair, valve sparing aortic root replacement, stentless valves and off-pump coronary bypass surgery.

Dr. Landvater is part of the Heart Valve Replacement Team at Rex, which is among the first in the nation to implement the new TAVR procedure. Learn more about the UNC Heart Valve Center and the TAVR procedure.
